WORK EXPERIENCE 2001 to 2002 Southern Oaks Equestrian Center - Orlando, Fla. Staff, Supervisor: Jane Affourtit ? Record keeping of 26-30 Florida based show horses competing throughout the lower SE part of the country. Record keeping included vet and farrier visits, show records and bill of sales information. Involved the management of the facility on weekends, including cleaning the barn (shavings for stalls), managing shift changes for turnout, feeding and keeping a close eye on the general well being of all animals. Daily education of riders ages seven and up and developing individual lesson plans toward each student to reach the overall betterment of their position and skill level. Placing together organizational drives through mini clinics, e.g. complete makeover of the lesson tackroom while educating the students on the different bits, saddles, reins and auxiliary equipment, how each is properly used and then challenging the students in different games applicable toward this new information. Constantly demonstrating safety checks on both horse and rider equipment. Relative care of horses included turning in and turning out, routine checks for soundness and general well being. Facility maintenance included care of the rings, general cleaning of the main barn area and proper closing of the facility after each evening shift. Desk work involved greeting students and visitors, data entry for scheduling lessons and marking payments received, and answering phone calls throughout the day.

Assistant Operations Manager, Supervisor: Eleanor Vallone ? Organized a complete facelift of the entire facility and assisting owner in business plans to increase overall profit. Overseeing the day to day activities of the 120 stall commercial boarding and competition facility including the general care of horses, stall cleaning (straw), assisting farrier and veterinary professionals with routine or emergency visits, data entry for all general health records of horses, following proper feeding practices, administrate supplements and medicines orally, IM and IV. Property maintenance, keeping an eye on the efficiency of the staff, and assisting the Operations Manager as directed. Also acted as the personal assistant and managed the twenty stall private barn of facility owner which included thoroughbred horses bred and broke for training at Fair Hill Training Center under the supervision of James Lawrence II, Fairy Chant II. Responsible to the owner for helping to schedule farm visits and tours, scheduling delivery times and amou nts for supplies to the farm, acting as the first impression to potential clients and striving to exceed our current clients demands and expectations.

Medical and farrier record keeping. Handling and grooming of yearlings for sales preparation, handling and grooming of mares I/F or W/F and keeping an eye on the progression of their term. Responsible for organization of special events held at the facility including the management of our regular time schedule of the farm versus the special event, record keeping of all registered participants, record keeping of any results applicable to the event, set up and deconstruction of the event and coordination for the overall traffic flow of the day.
