to train reining horses. This apprenticeship could eventually evolve
into an assistant reining horse trainer position.
Positive reinforcement training (PRT) is a proven method for teaching horses of any age or discipline to learn the same things they would learn through traditional training. Through the use of a marker signal, the trainer can get a "head start" on some trained behaviors, which ordinarily aren't taught to a horse until they are under saddle. In addition, PRT can be used to enhance, reinforce, or retrain horses that have already been trained through traditional methods. Though the farm raises and trains reining horses, this strategy is effective with all equine disciplines.
There is no tuition, no books or dormitory expenses. Living arrangements on the farm will be provided as part of the internship. Interns will be given a small stipend per week for spending money. The intern/apprentice must be 18 years of age or older and be willing to learn all aspects of horse management. Duties of the intern will include tasks such as, starting colts, riding older horses, and assisting the barn manager in feeding, watering, cleaning, medicating, grooming, lunging, and clipping. Joelle as well worked on the same organic farm. She learned how to milk goats, take care of chickens, turkeys and pigs as well. Joelles family when she was younger also boarded horses on their property. She has a wonderful demeanor with horses and has always loved them. She is a kind hearted, spirited woman.
We also have a small dog name Sophie who spent the same ammount of time on the farm as we did! She had a blaste going with Joelle every morning and night collecting eggs and feeding chickens. She also loved the baby goats.
Since we do live in West Virginia we were hoping that there would be room and board as well. We have lived in a barn loft and even a tent and are up for anything. We could even with the right supplies build you a small building for staff or even a shed.

still work there part time. I'm required to feed (grain, hay,

management & have a lot of good administrative experience.

& volunteers. I'm a good worker but I do not have farm type

can take care of horses. I do not have much expierience with tack
